Screen West Midlands

The regional screen agency. Their aim is to support, promote and develop the screen media industry through areas such as production, education, exhibition, archive and skills development.

First Light
www.firstlightmovies.com/funding
First Light fund and inspire the making of short films by young people in the UK, reflecting the diversity of their lives. They have enabled over 9,000 young people between the ages of five and 18 to write, act, shoot and produce over 600 films. Working with filmmakers and organisations, First Light films cover many topics and genres, and make use of accessible digital film technology.

Mediabox

Mediabox offers disadvantaged 13-19 year olds in England the opportunity to develop and produce creative media projects, using film, television, print, radio or online platforms. Mediabox is for young people to: express their own opinions, ideas and views, gain new skills, encourage creativity, boost personal development and get their voices heard. Applications for grants of up to £1,000 can be made by individuals or groups of individuals at any time. Organisations that work with young people can apply for up to £80,000. The next funding deadline is 18th September and Mediabox will run until March 2008.

Arts Council

Arts Council England works to get more art to more people in more places. They develop and promote the arts across England, acting as an independent body at arm's length from government. It offers a wide range of different funds but only some media forms, such as artist's film and video and photography are eligible.
