Creative Partnerships opportunity- Creative Practitioner neededAs part of an Enquiry School project for Summer term 2008 St Edmund's school Wolverhampton are looking to recruit a photographer / facilitator to lead a creative research programme with secondary pupils aged 12-14 identified as under-achieving in school. It is anticipated that the programme will run over an 8 – 10 week period during a regular timetabled slot. Pupils will be selected from different year groups and will be withdrawn from classes to participate in an experimental Creative Alternative Curriculum. The project will be developed and planned to re-engage pupils by raising their status and self esteem in school. Work will include an opportunity to analyse images around themes of success and celebrity and pupils will be encouraged to use these topics to reflect on and assess their own attitudes and aspirations. It is hoped this work will ultimately lead to a photographic exhibition or publication, although other outcomes may also emerge. The group will acquire new skills associated with digital photography and relevant ICT. Work will also be planned to develop self confidence and communication skills through discussion and practical tasks. The programme will be planned to incorporate practical activities and trips out of school which will include visiting local galleries. All activity will be planned alongside a senior member of staff. In the first instance we would ask for expressions of interest and an indication of how you would develop the brief; this should include relevant experience of working with secondary pupils and an up to date CV. Practitioners will need to have current CRB checks and availability through the summer term. Interviews will be held at school in April and will include a chance to meet some of the pupils we plan to involve. There is an indicative budget of £3,000 to include session time, resources and materials and travel costs.
