Find out about the British Youth Film Academy in Warwickshire
The British Youth Film Academy supported by the Children's Film & Television Foundation, sponsored by The Co-operative, in association with selected FE Colleges and key HE Institutions are to give a presentation outlining their work and their proposals for engaging vocational learners within the sub-region of Coventry & Warwickshire.
Mr Richard Caunt, a Director with The British Youth Film Academy, will outline the aims of what the academy intends to do, and how planned feature film production will engage and connect students with a professional and authentic work-type experience. Broadly, his objective is to encourage collaborative working relationships with local educators and by providing real employment opportunities for our learners, help to bridge the gap between 'hard to reach' audience demographics and mainstream broadcasters.
It is intended that one feature film be produced every summer and that the process will involve the proper mentoring of students in many aspects of film production. Though largely beneficial to media and performance-related students, the on-location experience of the entire production process will mean that wider opportunities will be afforded to those students learning about Fashion, Hair, Beauty and Make-Up, Catering, Construction, Art & Design, Music, aswell as Business & Marketing.
The presentation will be given at Henley Business Centre, Room 3, Henley College, Coventry on March 13th 2008 and start at 11am. If colleagues could arrive by 10.45am coffee and biscuits will be available and Richard will be able to make a prompt start. RSVP no later than 2th February 2008 to

This is a potentially exciting opportunity and one that addresses a number of the issues surrounding the skills agenda as expressed in the Leitch Report published last year. It also may provide significant opportunities for real work placements as well as work-based learning for students across a range of different vocational programmes.
