Wanted – Film Production Team
Creative Partnerships Stoke on Trent has been working with schools in the city since 2005, providing opportunities for teachers and pupils to work alongside creative partners to improve creative learning and teaching. As Creative Partnerships nationally enters a new phase of activity, we want to mark the impact the programme has had so far for teachers, children and young people, school leaders and creative practitioners. We are looking for a team of filmmakers who can collaborate with a small group of young filmmakers to create a film that will explore this impact in a dynamic and engaging style, for an audience of educationalists, creative partners, parents, and other stakeholders.
There are two elements that will make this a successful project – an authentic and rich collaboration between professional filmmakers and young people, and a useful finished film of the highest quality. The bulk of the work will take place in the summer term, with the deadline for delivery being mid September 2008. As a guide, we envisage the film will be around 30 minutes long. The budget for the project is in the region of £25,000.
Aims
The aims of this piece of work are:
- to highlight the impact of the Creative Partnerships Stoke programme on young people, on teachers and on whole schools, and on creative partners;
- to show the breadth and depth of the programme and the partners we have worked with;
- to celebrate the experience of individuals as well as groups;
- to reflect on what we've all learnt over the first three years of Creative Partnerships Stoke and to share this learning with others;
- to create an opportunity for Stoke to celebrate the excellent work that has been done and to feel proud of their achievements;
- to show that the programme has been about more than fun experiences and has resulted in sustainable change in practice;
- to provide a platform for young people to take a central role in the creative process;
- to provide the opportunity for a small group of young people who are already active film makers to develop further skills by taking part in this commission alongside professional film makers.
The role
You will:
- collaborate to agree the vision and direction of the film;
- create the film, possibly using interviews, footage of activity in schools, contributions from participants, school staff, parents and creative partners;
- complement the work with supporting printed material as appropriate;
- lead on the design and delivery of the DVD;
- do all this in collaboration with a group of young filmmakers who will be selected by Creative Partnerships Stoke on Trent ;
- liaise with Creative Partnerships Stoke on Trent throughout;
- supply monitoring and evaluation as requested.
Who you are
You will be a group of people, who, between you, will:
- be either an existing team, or a group brought together specifically for this project;
- show us work you have produced which is of excellent quality;
- be perceptive and analytical – able to work out what's really important in the story;
- provide both the vision, the technical skills and the administrative excellence to drive the project forward;
- be excellent at facilitating young people to take the lead and to achieve the highest quality results;
- have the capacity to deliver the work in the given timescale and budget;
- have access to professional standard equipment;
- show an in-depth understanding of the aims and practice of Creative Partnerships;
- appreciate the constraints of working in schools;
- demonstrate excellent practice in partnership building and working;
- have excellent project management skills, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and in budget;
- demonstrate the highest possible standards of health and safety, child protection and equal opportunities;
- have Public Liability Insurance for £5million, and be prepared to undergo an enhanced CRB check with Stoke on Trent City Council, along with all those on the team who will be working with young people.
