Young People's Fund 2 launching soon

Further lottery funding for youth led projects will become available from the end of this year. The Young People's Fund 2 will be launched in two phases in December 2007 and April 2008 and will fund a small number of high quality, youth led projects.

Up to £76 million is supporting YPF 2 and will support youth led local and national projects. YPF 2 will fund projects that achieve two or more of the Every Child Matters outcomes. It will continue to prioritise the involvement of young people from start to finish; be revenue - focused and demand-led.

Up to five million is being used to provide support and development activities to help organisations involve young people more in their projects and create a centre of excellence on the subject of youth participation. Participation Works, led by National Children's Bureau have been awarded a three-year contract to support and guide organisations to involve young people more fully in their work, enabling young people to be involved from start to finish of a project.

Participation Works will be running a series of free awareness raising workshops across the country about their self-assessment tool called ‘Hear by Right'. There will be two events here in the West Midlands on 26 September 2007 in Coventry and 12 February 2008 in Birmingham . If you would like to attend or find out more about what they can offer you can contact Jake Manning at jake@nya.org.uk or call on 0116 242 7443 . We would also encourage anyone who is thinking of applying to Young People's Fund 2 to read the materials on the Participation Works website .
