The Oska's come to Birmingham!

The Oska Bright Film Festival, a one-day film festival run by and for people with a learning disability, will be coming to Cineworld, Broad Street, Birmingham as part of a partnership project with Carousel, a learning disability arts charity from Brighton, on Friday 2 March 2007 from 10:30am till 2.30pm.

Oska Bright 'On The Road' will be showing films made by learning disabled filmmakers at four screenings, each lasting about 35 minutes. Tickets are free, but must be booked in advance.

The Screenings are at 10.30am, 11.10am, 1pm and 1.40pm.

Films featured include the devilish Nuts for Pudding, My Bloody Valentine, a story of love with a twist and a funny instructional cooking film, Cooking with Matthew. All the films were chosen for the festival by a selection panel of people with a learning disability.

The screenings are preceded by a masterclass, so that aspiring regional film-makers and actors have the chance to explore their own creativity and increase their skills.

Richard West, one of the organisers of the Festival and the On The Road programme says "It's very important that we recognise people with learning disabilities as filmmakers and artists in our own right and encourage film companies to work with people with learning disabilities".

Carousel is working in partnership with Birmingham City Council, Screen West Midlands and Mencap to bring this new cinema experience to Birmingham, with support from Cineworld.

To reserve tickets call Carousel on 01273 234743.
