Media Archive for Central England (MACE)

Brief Description:

The Media Archive for Central England (MACE) was established in 2000 as the English regional moving image archive covering both the East and West Midlands.

The archive exists both to collect and to be a point of reference and information about all aspects of the life, culture and history of the East and West Midlands as reflected in the moving image media.

The collections of film, videotape and digital media span the entire era of moving image production from the mid-1890s to the present day and are constantly growing.

The moving image collections include home movies, advertising and promotional material, travelogues, educational films, artists film and video and large collections of regional independent television news and programmes.

The work of the archive is principally supported by public funds from UK Film Council through its regional screen agencies in the Midlands and by the University of Nottingham where it is housed.
